UPCOMING EVENTS
Parent Education Events 2007-2008
Ever wonder about the materials on the shelves in a Montessori
classroom?
Or how, without punishment, do you solve or stop inappropriate
behavior?
Or why are all those young children motivated to learn if we don’t
choose everything for them? Or, perhaps the biggest question: can
children succeed later in life without hours of homework?
We believe communication and cooperation between school and homes
are vital for the optimum holistic development of each child. To
provide answers to some common questions, we are hosting a number
of Parent Education events throughout the school year. We hope
that you are able to attend them all! In an effort to help you
pencil us in your schedule, here is our calendar of Parent Education
Events for the coming school year.
Lunch and Learn
Noon - 1:00 p.m.
Order a sack lunch ($5- prepared by our lower elementary students!) to eat at these mid-day gatherings
where we will discuss topics including:
Problem Solving and Peacemaking
Friday, February 15
How to respectfully resolve issues without threats or bribes.
Transition and Assessment
Friday, April 18
We will cover rationale and explanations as to how we assess students in addition to teacher observations and record keeping.
Summer Suggestions
Friday, May 16
School is out but learning never stops! This session will provide
pointers on managing the summer with children, without excessive TV, and
with conscious decision making for providing key experiences for your family.
We
are extremely excited about spending time with you and answering
any questions you may have! We look forward to seeing each of you
at these events!!
