EXTENDED CARE
The Montessori School of Louisville’s extended care program is based on the same principles found in the Montessori classroom. Children continue to learn and grow in a prepared environment that encourages reverence, respect, responsibility, and resourcefulness.
For young children enrollment in the extended care program is at the recommendation and discretion of the teachers and administration. As with classroom placements, extended care enrollment is determined by the child's readiness.
Children may participate in such activities as computers, organized games,
arts & crafts, chess, yoga, music, dance, cooking, sewing as well as indoor
and outdoor play. In addition, students may elect specific religious instruction
depending on schedule and program availability.
Before-school care is available 7:30 am - 8:00 am, Monday-Friday. After-school care is available 2:45-6:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Extended care is not offered on the days when school is closed.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
CULTURAL LEARNING Because of our unique location and proximity to many of Louisville’s historic landmarks, neighborhoods, arts facilities, and museums, our students have the opportunity to learn about and develop an appreciation for the diversity of Louisville’s intercultural landscape through field trips and walking tours.
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND SERVICE LEARNING In keeping with our mission, our students actively engage in public service, which provides them with a life-long habit of caring for communities, public service, social justice and peace. Through this volunteer spirit, our students are learning to shape the world they will inherit.

RELIGION
The Montessori School of Louisville offers an enriched academic program with spiritual depth. We recognize spirituality as a basic human need. We respect, embrace and celebrate all belief systems. Our program honors the fundamental purpose of Dr. Maria Montessori's method to "bring about a greater world by nurturing the spirit of the child."
Spirituality and all religions of the world will be incorporated into the
daily classroom offerings during the work cycle. Various historical events,
traditions, religious beliefs and customs will be presented and observed as
appropriate for the season. For delving further into specific religious instruction,
this may be offered in small groups during after-school care hours as an elective,
based on demand.
